The other day I was asked where I worked \u2013\u00a0Podnosh<\/a>\u00a0I replied\u2026.which resulted in a \u00a0quizzical look and the follow up, \u201cHuh \u2013 What do you do?\u201d<\/p>\n

This isn\u2019t a unique response \u2013 I get it often when I respond to the \u201cWhere do you work?\u201d question. \u00a0Podnosh \u2013 it just \u00a0doesn\u2019t resonate with people as much as If I worked for a big retailer and so people can\u2019t make the usual assumptions that they would if I replied \u201cSainsburys\u201d.<\/p>\n

So what is Podnosh \u2013 what do we do?<\/h3>\n

The simple answer would be \u201cWe teach people to use the internet\u201d. It\u2019s accurate, technically \u2013 but it down playing everything we stand for \u2013 and everything else we do.<\/p>\n

We work towards making things better. \u00a0We do this \u00a0by teaching people to use digital skills and online tools to improve things for themselves, be this by building relationships, \u00a0teaching better communication skills or improving access to services \u2013 \u00a0and we\u2019ll work with anyone. Individuals, big structured organisations or small community groups, and anything in between \u2013 anywhere that our support will help make a difference.<\/p>\n

We\u2019ve worked alongside individual community volunteers, business managers and staff, cabinet members, councillors and MP\u2019s \u2013 and we work even better when we can bring these people together in the same room to learn together and improve their togetherness.<\/p>\n

In the past we\u2019ve worked with local authorities to\u00a0improve perceptions of safety in neighbourhoods<\/a>, and to\u00a0improve access to information that will shape cities<\/a>, with schools to help with\u00a0online bullying issues<\/a>,\u00a0brought people together to forge stronger communities<\/a>\u00a0and with\u00a0councillors to open up the civic conversation to entire communities<\/a>.<\/p>\n

And that\u2019s not even half of it \u2013 we\u2019ve supported\u00a0groups saving heritage building<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Women\u2019s groups reach a wider audience<\/a>. We\u2019ve worked with\u00a0young people to make them feel part of a community<\/a>\u00a0and with\u00a0scientists who just want to make the world a better place<\/a>\u00a0and so much more.<\/p>\n

We\u2019re also so very close to finishing developing an app that will really allow us to help people to tell the stories of how they are improving things for the people they work with too \u2013 the Podnosh Impact Assessment App. One of our clients Gateway have been using for a while \u2013 and we\u2019ve already seen it make a difference in the way they are able to\u00a0tell the stories of the people they support and the impact they have to their lives<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Making things better<\/h3>\n

Our company values are Think, Make A Difference and Give A Fuck and we work with those values in mind whatever we do.<\/p>\n

Think: Can we help? Are these the right people to be working with? are we the right people for the job?<\/p>\n

Make a difference: Will something be improved by our inclusion.<\/p>\n

Give A Fuck: care \u2013 want to deliver the best we can \u2013 for ourselves and the people we work with.<\/p>\n

So where do I work? \u00a0Podnosh.<\/p>\n
