British Bank Holidays!!

You guessed it…It rained, well today it has BUT that doesn’t matter much fun was had!!!

Good Friday was indeed a good friday, Although I had to work it was a Good day to work, the sun was shining and everyone was in a good mood, Friday evening and in typical british fashion the first hint of sunshine and the BBQ’s came out….Well Mike and Nickys was out and an invitation extended my way. Plenty of extremely good food was a consumed, Lots of much needed beer was drank and the laughter could be heard down the street as the boys regaled us with tales of debauchary from the stag party a couple of weekends ago, and us girlies talked dresses, hair and flowers for the up coming wedding a couple of weekends away!

Saturday and I had to be back in work, I dont usually work weekends but as Mr Eccles had an hospital apointment and has so graciously swapped shifts with me in the past I offered to cover for him. I’d have rather have not been there and words were exchanged with my manager but all was good in the end, We both conseded points that normally our stubborn selves would have refused to back down from (I must be mellowing with age) and I left work in as good as mood as I arrived. An entertaining Saturday evening was spent in the pub in Walsall again plenty of beer was drank and the night culminated in a conversation with a drunk Dicko and Stu about if it was possible to breed lamb that tasted of mint if you fed it mint all its life…..It was definitly time to go home!!!

Easter Sunday was spent around James’ where I got roped into serving the boys coffee during the first half of the Villa match and completely avoided the second half by escaping into the front room with Penny (James Mom)….Villa beat Birmingham 3 – 1 if your interested, I wasn’t particully but I had to hear about it so now you can too!! In the afternoon I kind of flitted between practising knitting wire and beads together to make jewellery (Penny has kindly taught me how to do it and I was determined to master it to make my own accessories for Steve and Catherines wedding) and upstairs where James was performing much needed surgery on my computer (fitting a bigger hard drive) all while eating Myrtle Moo my chocolate Moo Cow that Al got me for Easter.

Today as I said in typical Bank Holiday style it has rained on and off, so commiting ourselves to a day indoors so that we didn’t end up soaked through James spent the day reloading all my files back onto my now new and improved PC and I made the bracelet I spent all day yesterday practising for….. I am now extrememly pleased with myself as it has turned so much better than expected and it is the most wonderful shade of blue!

That was this weekend, since my last blog I have also been to see Seth Lakeman at the Glee Club in Birmingham, sent my son to school dressed as Oliver Twist, worked very hard impressing my managers in meetings at head office and generally had lots of hectic days!!

I’m now going to get a cup of tea and find something to do now I’ve finished my bracelet….

Its easier to blog when I have something to whinge about!!

It is. It really really is. I dont put any thought into it. I just type away and all the frustration pours itself onto the screen BUT when stuff is going great I feel less inclined to clutter the world of the internet with my rantings and really have to make the effort to remember to post anything at all….

….right what have I been up to??

Spent the last week planning on catching up with my house work and finally got round to it the weekend, well on sunday, I spent the rest of the weekend lazing about my house with the blonde kid and James. Eating food and drinking coffee and watching films I remeber seeing Harry Potter and then the Laberynth for the millionth time now its Jordans most “recent” favorite film!

We did venture out the house for a couple of hours Saturday and went to the cinema to watch the preview of Ice Age 2 “The Meltdown”. It was HILARIOUS!! I dont know who found it the funniest me or Jordan!

Right this week so far (yes I know its only Tuesday but still) I have Started applying for new jobs, had my work rota changed 3 times and then changed back to the origanal times (go figure) and had an appointment with my sons headteacher with regards to setting up a Moblog for the school!

This week I still have to take Jordan to football tonight, Make an outfit for the schools literacy day by Thursday and decorate an Easter Egg for Friday. I’m going to see Seth Lakeman at the Glee club Wednesday night and the rabbit has to be at the vets AND THEN I have to get back early enough to take Jordan to yet another school disco Thursday, In between all this I will still have to keep up the normal routine of school runs and work!!

I’m going to forget something, I just know it, In fact I probably already have!

Oh well who said life was boring!!??

Kids Steal Council Strike!

I took this picture on Monday of a group of “rebels” outside my shop.

As was well documented in the media our local council went on strike in opposition to the change the retirement age, and the alteration in pensions plan for its workers!

They set up their picket line in front of the local offices and all was going as planned untill this lot appeared and ran off with thier placards, Much to the amusement of myself and a few others!

The kids ran around town and probably brought more attention to the cause than a line of old women standing outside the civic buildings with a cup of hot chocolate to keep them warm! They didn’t hurt anybody and in all honesty raised more smiles than they did frowns, So you can imagine my amusement when, whilst in work today, a local council worker came into our store and during a conversation about the strike started complaining that “their strike had been ransacked by some young hooligans”, and demanded to know “why the hell weren’t they in school anyway??”

WHY WEREN’T THEY IN SCHOOL???…BECAUSE YOU LOT WERE ALL ON STRIKE MORON!!

Home again!

What a few days I’ve had. I’m exhausted, but still smiling.

Friday I flew up to Glasgow for Catherines’ hen weeknd and had an absolutly amazing time!! We shopped and talked and drank. Walked for MILES, went to see a stand up comedian, crippled myself with new shoes, drank Coffee, ate bagels, took photos, insulted scottish lads (well that was just me the others were far too polite!) walked, partied and walked some more!

Considering I had only really knew Cat and had only spoken with Nicky a couple of times with just a brief introduction to a couple of the other girls before I went away with them, we all got along marvellously! I couldn’t have hoped to go away with a nicer group of people HOSPITALITY was everyones middle name and they were all so accomadating when I was in ABSOLUTE agony all day sunday with my foot!! (yes stupid me wore new shoes to work the week before, THEN wore new shoes out in Glasgow friday night and NEW boots Saturday night, blisters weren’t the word for what went wrong with my feet I couldn’t walk and STILL can only wear backless shoes!!! DOH!!). Flew home Sunday evening feeling very happy about the whole weekend even if i was extremely tired with sore legs from dancing and limping all weekend!

Monday night I accompanied James to see Imogen Heap at the Acadamy2 in Birmingham SHE WAS FANTATIC!! I love her music, but there is nothing more gratifying than watching any performer live and watching Imogen was a treat (even if I did have to spend most the show on aching feet and on tip toes) You could tell she was really enjoying herself and its always nice to watch somebody having fun!!

Tuesday night was just as much fun I had James, Al and Steve round at varying times throughout the evening, eating food drinking coffee and chatting/catching up but hey ho, other than waking with a head ache this morning that I STILL CANT GET RID OF, I feel in a much better frame of mind….I have a plan which involves getting a decent solicitor, getting a new job and having as much fun as possible in between!!

Hi-Tech surgery??

My doctors has caught the technology bug and has installed a touch screen system for booking yourself in fro appoitments.

The reasoning…to make the whole process quicker, The result…to completly confuse the old people who couldn’t work out how to use the damn thing with a whole queue of frustrated patrons behind them (including ME)!

Now while I’m a BIG fan of technology and am all for its use in making life simpler, easier, quicker etc, maybe just maybe it wasn’t such a good idea to install something so tech savvy with no instructions of use and NO ONE around to help the poor saps who have been deprived the age of computers because of ther age!!!

We waited in vain for the now non-existant receptionist to offer some assistance while the queue just kept on getting longer. I was 4th in line behind these poor confused people and they were getting more and more flustered, so, obviously I stepped up to offer my help and show them how to do it.

I’d like to say I was just being helpful. That my kind heartedness was an act of sheer unselfish generosity but I’d be lying!! The fact is I was becoming more and more convinced that I would miss my appointment if they didn’t hurry up and figure it out and decided if nobody else was willing to help then I would so I got to book myself in as an example to the ever so grateful people and hence jumped the queue!! HA!

Email

My sister NEVER mails me anything of any substance or of any real interest, Its usually the pass this on to 10 people or you’ll drop down dead/lose all your belongings/suffer a great deal in the next 24 hours if you dont., Which get dealt with a swift click on the DELETE button however I usually always have a glance through JUST in case by some miracle she emails for something important and I miss it.

Today I’m glad I did take the time to have a look, because after scanning through all the rubbish I spotted this paragraph at the bottom of her latest lot of junk…

“As we grow up, we learn that even the one person that wasn’t supposed to ever let you down probably will. You will have your heart broken, probably more than once, and it’s harder every time. You’ll break hearts too; so remember how it felt when yours was broken. You’ll fight with your best friend. You’ll blame a new love for things an old one did. You’ll cry because time is passing too fast, and you’ll eventually lose someone you love. So take too many pictures, laugh too much, and love like you’ve never been hurt because every sixty seconds you spend upset is a minute of happiness you’ll never get back.”

…and never a truer word was spoken!!
